Hello All,
The Joan Mitchell Foundation will be hosting our annual Student Art Exhibition. Please join us on Friday, April 20th from 5-8pm at the Teacher’s College, Columbia University, Macy Gallery for the closing reception. The Exhibition will include students artwork from the JMF Art Education sites located in several community centers around the New York City Tri-state area. The exhibition will showcase art mediums of drawing, painting and sculpture from grades Middle – High School.
The Joan Mitchell Foundations strives to aid and assist the artistic education of individual youth painters and sculptors through free studio classes in drawing, painting and sculpture in addition to other educational opportunities. As part of the JMF initiative to increase society’s awareness and appreciation of art and its role in our culture, the Foundation annually host an exhibition of students artwork. The Joan Mitchell Foundation believes that an exhibition is the culminating step in the artistic process; it is an opportunity for the community to celebrate the accomplishments of the students who pursued their interests beyond the requirements of school class time. The students develop the ability to look and discuss the techniques and skills learned and express the influences and motivations that went into the art-making process.
We Hope to see you there!!!!!!
